Peoples Bank Welcomes New Board Members

Peoples Bank is pleased to announce the appointment of three esteemed professionals to its Board of Directors. Ashton Abernethy, Robert C. Abernethy Jr. and Dan R. Timmerman Jr. join the board with a wealth of experience and a shared commitment to furthering the bank’s mission of serving customers and communities with excellence.

The announcement was made by Peoples Bank Board Chairman Robert C. Abernethy Sr. who stated, “The addition of Ashton Abernethy, Robert Abernethy Jr. and Dan Timmerman Jr. to our Board of Directors underscores our dedication to building a leadership team that reflects the spirit and values of the communities we serve. Their expertise and strong leadership will help guide the continued growth and success of Peoples Bank.”

Ms. Abernethy brings a wealth of experience in sales leadership and strategic insight to the Board. Currently the Vice President of Sales at Medusind Behavioral Health in Tustin, CA, she excels in system and program development, strategic planning, and operational management. With a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix, Ms. Abernethy is recognized for her innovative approaches and passion for improving outcomes in her professional pursuits.

Beyond her executive leadership, Ms. Abernethy brings her expertise to a variety of influential roles. She has created and sold successful companies, serves as an Executive Board Member at Alexander Railroad in Taylorsville, NC and as a Board Member at Carolina Glove & Safety Company in Conover, NC. Ms. Abernethy also applies her specialized skills as a Consulting Revenue Cycle Management Specialist and UX Design professional with Lightning Step Technologies in Houston, TX.

Mr. Abernethy Jr. is an executive with more than two decades of experience and a commitment to driving business growth and strategic governance. A devoted stakeholder in Peoples Bancorp of North Carolina, the parent company of Peoples Bank, he brings a deep personal investment in fostering the mission and values established by the company’s founders. Currently serving as the Executive Vice President of Carolina Glove & Safety Company in Conover, NC, Mr. Abernethy Jr. leads initiatives that enhance team performance, streamline communication, and drive product development to ensure competitiveness and organizational excellence.

With a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Gardner-Webb University, Mr. Abernethy Jr. combines his educational foundation with community leadership. His dedication to community service is evident through his involvement in several local organizations. He currently serves on the Catawba County Board of Commissioners and as a Director on the K64 Board and Department of Social Services in Catawba County, NC and has previously represented the Metropolitan Planning Organization in Catawba County, NC.

Mr. Timmerman Jr. is an innovative executive with more than two decades of business and manufacturing knowledge and strong operational expertise. He brings insights into the local business community and is a strong advocate for Peoples Bank. A co-owner and President of Timmerman Manufacturing, he has advanced from hands-on fabrication work to leading the company’s strategic operations, resulting in significant business expansion and growth.

Mr. Timmerman Jr. is a graduate of the Walker School College of Business with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. An Eagle Scout, he exemplifies the values of leadership and perseverance, which are reflected in his active community involvement. He currently serves on the Conover City Planning Board, where he leverages his insights and expertise to support local development and growth.
